Cycling on Norefjell

A leisurely bike ride? – Or a strenuous trail bike ride in the mountains?

On a trip with the family

For families, we recommend starting the trip with a hike up to Kjærlighetshaugen.

It is a circular trail and most people choose to start at Norefjell Ski & Spa.

The hike starts with some uphill and it is difficult at first. Many people will have to roll a bit along the way, but take it easy and don't stress.

The first 1,5 km of uphill climb gives you a great view at the top at Kjærlighetshaugen.

For the trimmer and the electric cyclist

If you want to get a little out of breath and cycle to stay in shape, there are many good options.

Here we describe the possibilities starting at Norefjell Ski & Spa and we will guide you around the Soleseter circuit and Norehammeren.

The hike starts with about 2 km of uphill climbs where you pass Kjærlighetshaugen after about 1,5 km.

For the trail enthusiast

The undisputed king of trail hikes on Norefjell is the DNT trail to Høgevarde.

The trip is about 22 km with about 600 meters of elevation gain.

By bike, it is best to start the trip at Norefjellstua and cycle the road that goes up along the Norefjellekspressen. Just before you reach the top, you keep the DNT trail further up.

Experienced

Top hikes in the Norefjell region

Take safety seriously!

It is recommended that anyone who is inexperienced take a summit hiking course and avalanche course.
You will then learn how to use the avalanche warning system, identify avalanche terrain and undergo a thorough review of your equipment.
You will also be left with a better understanding, and have a foundation to build on to gain further experience.

From Temple Seats

An easy hike from Tempelseter is to walk towards Raudmyra. Then you have Ranten on your left all the way up. At Raudmyra you can choose to walk to the top of Ranten, or continue towards the top of Høgevarde.

The descent from Høgevarde is not in avalanche terrain and is a great, gentle ski mountain that most people will enjoy. When there has been a little fresh snow, it is especially nice to ski in gentle terrain. If you choose to go towards Ranten, you must be aware of the snow cover, the avalanche danger and the terrain around you. Here, the terrain is more complex to deal with.

Parking: At Tempelseter Mountain Lodge.

From Høgevarde Mountain Park

From Høgevarde Fjellpark there are many possibilities, but here there is also more avalanche terrain to deal with. The summer route towards Høgevarde is in relatively easy terrain, and this is a nice trip in good weather. The north side of Ranten is also a nice hiking destination from this side.

Otherwise, this area has been recognized for its small and beautiful alpine resort that opens up to fun and playful forest terrain. It can be windy at Norefjell, and then the forest can often be a nice place to visit due to less wind and sheltered conditions.

ParkingAt Høgevarde Mountain Park

From Sandvassseter

From Sandvassseter, located between Eggedal and Haglebu, you can go on a top hike to Gråfjell and Ranten. The terrain is flat at the start before the climb towards Gråfjell. A good tip is to follow the ski trails for a while. If you are looking for a round trip, you can drive down from Gråfjell and go towards Ranten and Tempelseter.
